Description

I listen to Pop, Jazz, and most importantly classical, and the mid is what gets me excited. I love tobe pierced by a pretty sound of soprano, or violin - and only a 3 inch mid gives it to me.

All who are constantly upgrading, this might be your answere as well. Also a sub. I am so satisfied with my system, I don't feel the need to upgrade any more, even after hearing a Krell/B&W combo.

The Quad is not as powerful as I like, but the mid is so pleasant - seems to have a personality of it's own - smooth in a natural way.

For all who are still searching for that illusive sonic heaven, try a sub addition first. I like monitor audio one, and this $95 sony one SA-WM200 (www.etronics.com).

The MA one is more refined, but the sony has a nice ring to it - I heard it with a Athena 5 inch bookshelf (better than their bigger woofers) AS-1B ($170 pair www.bestbuy.com), and would you believe it, I was mesmerized...

This is what I had been searching for - a small mid woofer (3 - 5 inch) and a sub system. It was playing through a low end Yamaha surround Receiver - imagine what it could sound like on good stereo amp!

I am so happy now with the system, I won't be getting that upgrade bug for a long time - I hope.

If you have comments or how to improve it, I will appreciate it.

Thanks for the responses - I will try to hear them. Dweller, what are you listening to now? With an affordable sony sub sa-wm500 addition (www.etronics.com), your system could sound satisfying if you haven't got a sub.

I didn't know that $330 in speakers can buy sonic heaven (Athena AS-1B and a sony sub). The sub is boomy and some live it, other's think too much for music.

Hope you find a job soon, so you can buy your expensive toys. I need to increase my cash flow too - I am getting a real estate license - just requires one class.
