Description

Starting my new system thread...building new home and finally get to design our dedicated room.  I'll add pics from older systems and previous rooms...I've been around a long time and as an engineer, I have designed, built, modified and bought quite a bit of stuff over the last 30+ years.  I'm looking forward to finally listening and enjoying music from the Maxell chair...

Sure.  More than happy to help with my DIY stuff.   Built a lot of cable over the years....

1.  Use good conductors.
2.  Low mass (or no) connectors.
3.  Secure connections.
4.  Sometimes silver solder, sometimes mechanical terminations

I'm a stand mount speaker lover, and yours look beautiful. I'd like to discuss your DIY cables, particularly the XLR helix stuff. I bet you have a lot of experience that could save me some time and money from mistakes.
Thanks for sharing your system page.

Nice!  Yeah those Wharfedales are sweet.  I haven’t heard a pair but I imagine they are fantastic. Funny you mention source component… last night a friend was over and we hooked his acoustic guitar to my stereo and man did it sound awesome!  First time I have ever heard a real instrument being played live through my system

Sorry.  I can't really compare.  I only had the BMRs for a second.  I didn't prefer the darker finish and send them right back to Dennis.  May look at another pair once the new home gets finished.

I have to say that the Elysian's are the best speaker that I have owned.  Over the years I have had the following:
B&W 802s
Maggies
KEF Reference
Monitor Audio
Zu
Various DIY using Scan Speak, Morel, SB, Real, SEAS, Eton, etc....

Primarily used Class A, A/B amplification.  Never dabbled with tubes.  Always CD playback, no vinyl.   Did multi channel/surround stuff and now strictly 2 channel (even with movies).  I do have a swarm sub configuration setup and have to say that with combining with room correction has taken my listening enjoyment to another level.

About 10 years ago I switched over to Class D (starting building custom Hypex amps...UcD, Ncore).   Reference to date is a Purifi amp from Mike at Mivera)

I has always been of the mind set that your system is only as good as the source content.  I have been happy with the ease and the ability to get  lossless contact from streaming.  Definitely impressed with Roon and Qobuz.  What a fantastic way to listen to all my old music and enjoy a whole bunch of new stuff.

Saying all this, I think that the combination of lossless streaming, room correction/DSP, swarm subs allow the Elysian's to shine.  Excited to see how I can improve on this with my upcoming dedicated space.

Can you compare those 2 speakers for us please?  Beautiful system by the way!

Thx.  The Wharfedale's are a keeper.   I'll be dabbling with an active system (Camerton/Purifi) and will probably look at Songs Faber also.

Congrats on the new room mbolek I assume you list the Wharfedales because they are staying? It's funny in the pic you posted the Philharmonic BMR's look like their big brother.
