Description

It all started in 1993 where a sales person showed me a pair of B&W Matrix 805. I had planned on a pair of DM604s with a Velodyne ULD-15. The 604 & the 805 were the same price and my 18 year old ears hadn’t had much exposure, so I never even noticed the horrible things done by Velodyne's crossover (factory set to 85Hz). I ended up with a pair of B&W Matrix 804s. Later paired with a Bryston 3B-NRB. I haven’t found anything better that wouldn’t require a great sum of money.
The one complaint I had, a lack of sub-bass. That's been addressed by adding two SVS SB3Ks. I don’t know how long these subs need to break in, but the bass slam from the 2.0 is slightly diminished but now accompanied by a rapid punch.
Most things use Transparent interconnects. I had four dedicated 20amp circuits with PS Audio outlets installed. The difference was far beyond what I expected. That would be my advice for the audiophile that is fairly satisfied with their HiFi rig.
