I started in October of 2002. I researched with the help of Audiogon threads/opinions and magazine reviews. Purchases were through the resale market with the exception of the speakers and power cords. My glaring weakness is with my monoblocs, but my overall sound is superb. I hope to add a four channel Theta Dreadnaught in the distant future.
Nice System.... Curious in another post you mentioned that you used 2 or 3 Shakti Stones on/in your Theta Citadel's. Could you describe where you found them beneficial?
Or does that Electroclear AC filter make a bigger difference?
System edited: Absolutely incredible piece of gear that had a short run and was distributed by word of mouth. This has a profound effect on my system that is not lacking in noise reduction emphasis!!
System edited: Just changed cabling to top of the line Purist. I now have to upgrade my speaker cable to either the next to the top Purist or same from VD.
I really like the way you are able to use tweaks to better the sound of your system!I also have usde a fair number of them as well.I really like the Quicksilver Gold on all my cables, amp,cd front end and speakers. You might also try the Sistrum platforms since they make a huge difference to all components incuding speakers. If you get the chance look for a paint that goes on practically everything called AVM,you put it on dac chips, pcb boards ,speaker drivers, power trannies.Anyway, these are just thoughts for the future.Well done Dennis
System edited: I just added these Theta Enterprise monoblocs and it took my system a quantum leap forward. I was advised that the Dreadnaught I and Citadel monos were built with the same circuit board and the Dreadnaught II/Enterprise monos were built with a different board. The advice claimed substantial preference for the former. If they are correct, perhaps it gets better, but I am more than satisfied with my upgrade from my Belles 150A Ref :-) BTW, Theta disagrees with this assessment claiming it is no less musical, but more neutral.
System edited: The Alex Peychev 3910 redesign is on a level by itself! It rivals analog. The Audiodharma Cable cooker is very beneficial. It seems to bump a wire to the next level!
System edited: Kilimanjaro(12awg) adds silver to the equation! Much beter mids and highs. The base is tighter and more articulate, but less weight as compared with the Volcano(copper) which was 9awg. My cd tweaks are both excellent in lowering the noise floor and providing more of an analog sound :-)
Your glaring weakness is your speakers, most of your equipment far exceeds the caliber of them, isn't it time for something serious Mr Healing? Check out Usher, they shred the Meadowlark line-up in all respects including price, Blue Heron 2 sound with their $4000 speakers, I kid you not. You may have Belles amps that something is wrong with, you also havwe so many tweaks you can't tell what is going on with your system. Give me a call turkey :) 530-626-5881
System edited: The Aesthetix Calypso is a new reference. I am upgrading my Belles 21A preamp to see how close Dave can approach this Giant killer! Any bets? My mi-rollers bring more musicallity to the system as opposed to generic points.
My 222 is modified and is far superior to the 9000 for redbook. One would have to modify the 9000 to get similar results. The 9000 is very good for sacd, but I would have to do an a/b comparison with the same ic to better answer your question.
