Meadowlark Audio Nighthawk
About comparable to the Blue Heron with same speaker array, possibly some different drivers, first order X-overs, biwire, in figured maple cabinet with exquisite detail, high efficiency (about 91 db) and 4-ohm
Velodyne DD-18
Need I say more? Cherry cabinet. Updated software. If I recall correctly, it has a 3,000 watt Class D amplifier. Just go read Stereophile. Manufactured summer 2005.
I have the lowpass X-over set to 70 Hz, 24db slope, subsonic X-ver set to 17 Hz with 48db slope. Phase at 15 degrees, + polarity, volume at 22. I aligned the cabinet with the time-aligned Meadowlark Nighthawk speakers, both far from rear & side walls. The system measurements show much flatter frequency response than anything I have ever seen with any other speakers in Stereophile reviews using the same test microphone & software. This was achieved without using the 8 band parametric equalizer to boost any band more than 3dB (only two narrow bands were boosted above 0dB). Rather remarkable considering the modest boosting.
I would like to thank
VPI Industries Super Scoutmaster W/Signature arm
It's on a Scoutmaster base with totally tweaked Signature tonearm (Valhalla Nordhost wiring). I use the outer & inner weights for the massive album rigidity and the flywheel effect. I do not have the electronic speed control (yet), so it's a shade less than Super. Gingko Cloud 11 base set on granite slab. Gingko dustcover (full coverage, custom fit to set on Cloud 11).
