Yeah, well, with the introduction of the new REF 6 pre-amp, I'm now thinking about looking for a used REF 5SE pre-amp. That one I can tell is better than the REF 3. The early REF 5 wasn't. and also since AR discontinued the PH8 phono stage, maybe I can find a good used one.

You know. a step at a time.

enjoy

Minor1,
No need to apologize to me. I was just commenting ting that I find it strange that some members bother to post their system, which takes some time and effort, but then don't answer queries. I assumed the back and forth was the purpose for posting systems.

Roxy54; Sorry, but I don't live on audiogon and sometimes don't see member questions. It happens.

Quite honestly, I really didn't hear a marked difference between a retubed PH3 and the PH6. I really didn't. Not disappointed with the sound of the PH6, but, not jaw dropping difference. Could be cartridge interaction. or may diminishing returns? I'm not sure. Don't regret the purchase of the PH6 and sale of the PH3. Sounds great, but I think the Reference phono would be the new upgrade for me.

Thanks,

minorl

I always find it strange when a member chooses to post their system, and even update it, but never answer questions that other members ask. What's the point of posting the system?

System edited: Added Audio Research REF 250 Mono block amps to replace one of the Mark Levinson 23.5 powering the upper panels of my Martin Logan Monolith IIIX Speakers.

Hey MinorL, what improvements did you get from the PH3 to the PH6?
