I guess the weak link in my system now is the Rega CD. It is a very good CD but I am back to LP s after years of CD listening and the Thorens turntable beats the Rega CD hands down. I´ve auditioned Audio Aero Capitole but didn´t get the sound I expected. Still searching.
Hi. I think that change to Dynaudio is a good idea, but stay away from 3.3. They really need a big room to breath. I have had de Callisto 2200 with Dynaudio Crafft and Confidence 5. If you like Dynaudio don´t forget the Confidence 2 and the 25th aniversary. The Callisto drive them very easily. You have to be patient because of the very long time the Dyns require to break in.
The Air Tight caught fire while warming up. It was a new unit and I only had it for 1,5months. I switched it on, went around the house doing time for it to be ready for playing and, BANG!, a loud thump, one of the bigh tubes caught fire. Tube people have told me that this is not very usual, but not that rare either. All I know is I saw a big flame out of the tube. I was right there and quickly switched it off. After trading it for the Gryphon, the dealer has told me he changed the tube and a capacitor and it works fine now. I have two kids and I just can't take the risk of having things like that around the house. What if I wasn´t there at that moment? It played marvelous though.
try Rega combo, I am using Rega Jupiter + Rega Hal + 2 x Rega EXS driving Elac Dolce Vita. Sounds very very good. Very sweet sound with satisfactory resolution and music body. Staging is less good comparing Gryphon, but I dont really care much.
At least I wont feel fatique after listen Rega for long hours.
