This system will be used, when complete, for small accoustic and vocal performances. Music with strong dynamic content will be played on my main system. The whole system should not cost more than $3000, new or used. Hopefully I can find what I like for much less that that, even. I appreciate everyone's help in assembling a sweet, intimate 2-channel system. Thanks.
5-disc SACD-Multi changer rated by Stereophile as a class "A" source until the model was discontinued by Sony. The mutichannel outputs on mine go to my main multichannel music system in the bedroom, but the stereo outputs will go to this two-channel only system in the same room.
Requesting Suggestions for Tube Integrated
I am not looking for anything in particular, just as long as it is tube. Does not need to be an integrated, but that would best suit my applicationa and budget. My speakers are not very efficient, so a minimum of 8 watts needed. This is for small accoustic and vocal performances. Music with strong dynamic content will be played on my main system. I will spend what I need to get what I want, but think aprox $1000 for integrated or Pre/Amp, new or used. This is not to be an expensive system. Thanks for your input.
Hales Design Group Concept 2
Will eventually pick up a pair of these floor-standers, hopefully :D
System edited: Modified source and speakers to reflect current thinking. I am currently eyeing the following tube integrated amps, new or used: Jolida 502B (60w/ch); Rogue Audio Tempest Magnum (90w/ch); Rogue Audio Cronus, from the Titan Series (55w/ch). Any other ideas on tube integrated amps that would not blow my budget ceiling, as they can be had for less than $2K?
CDP: California Audio Labs Delta/Alpha transport/tube DAC ($750 used for both)
Integrated: Jolida 302B ($900 new)
That should keep you well under budget. Or, you can try the Music Hall CD-25 (I've heard it with the Jolida and it sounded great) for $500 new. Not quite as refined as the CAL, but very good for the price.
Sticking with tubes for the integrated sharply limits your choices, but the Jolida is a very good amp for the price.
