i could say that the system dissapears completely and just lets me get into the soul of the music......a few times it almost brings tears onto my face.....thats how much it communicates emotionaly with me.....or maybe i love music too much.....lol.......
The gryphon is the best integrated ive heard........
if you ever get a chance have a listen and then tell me what it misses from the mostly expensive separates.......its that good!!!!!with its sweet midrange i vmatches perfectly with the kharma 3.2 driving them to the limits.....i thought was moving them ok with graaf otl monoblock until i tried this beast........
the player is excelletn for the money but maybe the only thing i would like to upgrade in the future....not the near future......lol
Nordost is simply the best cable ive heard.......
Never forget dedicated lines.....!!!!!it elevates your system in a diffferent level!!!!!!!
Hey Thomgoo! Yes maybe a little bit more body would be very welcome. But i really dont want to miss all the great things that the Valhallas are offering.Ill try to get to audition them, at least the less expensive line to see their sound. Havent got the chance to listen to the Mikado yet.Ill post a review as soon as I get my hands on it. Best Regards, Mike
"yes" our combos are very nearby :O))) and "yes" the gryphons are something very special - I do like them very, very much. This moment I am using the Kharma Supreme Reference speakercables - they are wonderful - smooth, wide, with exactly the body I was missing before.
If I am right, you are thinking about combing your Kharmas with a sub. I do not think it is necessary - I do think the problem in your system might be the valhalla speaker cable. I have not compared the Kharma cables to the Valhallas in one system, but I have auditioned the Valhallas in an other system. The Valhallas are very briliant in the highs but do have much too less body and less bass. In my opinion it is not a good idea to combine them with the Kharma Speakers.
Maybe you will also have the possibility to try some different powercords - I do like the Acoustic Zen cords, but have not tested them with the Gryphon. At all there are huge differences between powercords - I have tested a lot - and it is possible to get the best out of "your" system with the perfect cords for "your" units. But it is also possible to castrate a system with the wrong cords. I am a big fan of the Purist Audio Dominus powercord - this moment I do have two of them - in my opinion it is one of the very best powercords to buy - but a couple of moths before I was using them in my whole system - CD, Pre, Amp - and the sound collapsed. I bought an Electraglide for the Pre - and the sound was PERFECT!!! In my opinion the Dominus is the very best powercord for the CD player (we have tested a lot of players with the Dominus - Audionet, Gryphon, Densen, Rega, Hegel, Lindemann,... always with the same result - the Dominus is definitely the best powercord for a CD player) and in most cases it is also the very best powercord for the Amp and for the Integrated, but in my special case it was the wrong cable for the Pre.
The "filter" I am using is the Purist Audio >Extension Box Rev.B< - it is perfect - there is a black background and much air between the instruments. When comparing the Purist Audio Dominus cables to other cables, I do always think there is something like a "Dominus effect" - something magic - and it is the same with the Extension Box.
At all I am very, very happy with my system - and with the cords I found for my system ;O))).
Hey Thomgoo!! Im happy i found another fellow audiophile with the same combo (sort of)! Callisto 2200 is a great amp as well!!!very small differences with the Diablo.... Really magical sound.!!!!!!! i was actually considering auditioning Mikado in the next days!!!!!!Now i cant wait!!!i hope ur true!!! Are u talking abouth the top of the line kharma cables??unfortunately my dealer doesnt have those...only the lower class ones.......are they that great??have u tried them-compare them to Valhalla maybe??? Happy Listening my friend Michael
Hello Mixalis, yes Kkarma and Gryphon is a wonderfull combination. This moment I m driving my Kharma speakers with a Callisto 2200 - and I do love it!!! If you will ever have the possibility to try a Kharma Speaker Cable instead of the Valhalla give it a try - but be carefull - the tears... If you do think about upgradig your player - you should try the Gryphon Mikado - I had the Mikado in my system for couple of days - AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
lol..... my friend kops!!!long time no see as they say.......we have to meet soon for a listening session..... You are very right about the room, its 5x6 meters, it definetely keeps the system from performing its best. Definetely my next upgrade is going to be something digital(maybe esoteric) as i think my cd player doesnt really keep up with the rest of the system although im very happy with its performance. And of course a room.!!!!lol c y soon.;)
