Description

This is what I've got into the house so far. The speakers were a pleasant suprise for my wife, both for looks and for sound (I wanted N802s but she was very clear that that wasn't going to happen - same with the HTM1). I know I need to upgrade my sources (other than the analog that is). Next steps are to upgrade the in-wall speakers and wait to see what happens on digital formats before swopping out either the DVD or the CD. Going through the exercise of putting this system up got me to realize just how out of hand things can get in this hobby !

I explained WAF to wife and she cracked up. To her, it is black boxes and wires. My WAF increses when i have her repeat "at least it's not a boat". Hiding wires helps too.

You know, I don't analyze the sound anymore. I just listen. And enjoy. At rather high spls, which does garner comment from 'the better half'. I remember during auditioning that the sound was much less 'obvious' than other combinations and I used the analogy of going to a wine tasting where the more 'individual' wines get noticed. The best wines 'hide' in the pack. Anyway I'm still happy with my system but have just upgraded the CD to an Arcam unit.
I would say that I'm continually impressed by the control the system has to anything I throw at it although I did get the sub to go a bit wonky once on some bass-rich material. I happened to be measuring at the time and it was at 109 db.

the 802's were a easy sell with my wife but she fought hard with the htm1 and I just ordered it any way. I had the bryston sp1 with a bryston 6b-st and a aragon 8008bb. I was thinking about going the pass labs route but totally changed everyting midstream anyway how is that combo I am guessing and warm fat tubey midrange?
