Nice accumulation of Mc gear. The 240 ought to be plenty for the Cornwalls; they're VERY efficient. My brother used to run his with a 2100 and now with a 2255, both of which were overkill. They both drive the Cornies to painfully loud levels without hardly coming off idle. The 240 will have to work a bit harder, but you should still get respectable output.
I would really like to see some pictures if you get time. I'd also like to know where I could buy an MC240 for what you paid, that's a great deal for anything McIntosh.
Only one ell, I would really try to find an owners manual for the C22 to get the correct setup or maybe get an online answer from McIntoshlabs dot com. I looked at some schematics for the C22 online and both phono 1 and 2 were setup for 47kohms indicating it could handle two Moving Magnet cartridges. The schematics also indicated an input of 2 milli volts to get 2.5 volts out of the phono stages at 1khz. So you would have to use a linestage input on the back of the C22 to plug in a new Moving Coil phono stage. Also, you might want to consider a MM cartridge like any of the Ortofon's or Clearaudio's in your budget. McIntosh makes great MM phono stages. I know because that is what I'm using on my C45 running an Ortofon 2m Black cartridge with a Clearaudio Champion Level 2 TT. Good Luck, Hope this helps you enjoy your great classic setup. I would not sell the C22 before trying a MM cartrige in any case.
Only one you've got a Really nice system. I'm curious about the C22. Does it have a moving coil phono board to boost the output of your 901 or is there a component you have'nt mentioned?
I remember about 1978, sitting in a barbers chair, friends apt, listening to Pink Floyds Animals and the Klipsch Cornwalls thinking, "Where did all those sheep come from?" Should be able to drive those Klipsch with "flea watt" power! Nice System!
