Nice system. I recently purchased a Sony SCD-1 SACD/cd player. It's pretty top flight. It replaces a Sony DVP s9000es DVD/SACD/cd player that is a really nice all around unit and I intend to keep it. However, every sonic characteristic of the SCD-1 is just one good notch better. Enough to put it in a different league. I do not use a seperate dac. And I do not believe there is any substitution or band-aid for quality or lack thereof. IMO

I've had the Cary 303/200 about a month and it's outstanding.Your cd player looks like the weakest link in a very good system.Mine is similar(Cary Rocket 88,Audio Physic Spark 3's,REL Strata 3.

Dabears- I've been very happy since I added a Classe' DAC to my CAL CL-10 (changer keeps the WAF high). Of course, I also upgraded speaker cables, amp, and speakers within about a month's time, but the DAC was definately a major step up from what is supposed to be a Class B unit (Classe' is rated Class A). Of course, this is really on the only route I could go and keep the changer. You will need a good digital cable as well, and maybe a jitter filter. The good thing is that used DACs do not retain their value very well, esp. if not 24/96, so you can get something pretty good for about 25-30% of list.
